The upstairs apartment to this building was the unfortunate setting for a 40 Club employee’s suicide in 1999, and since then, people claim, strange things have happened at the restaurant. Tom’s body was found after he failed to show up for work one day. Now, the jukebox plays songs buy itself (including one that wasn’t stocked in the jukebox but was played at Tom’s funeral), cold spots and flickering lights are known to happen, and TVs and radios act strangely as well.

  • Dark smoke Entity

    I spent the night there while driving back from taking my friend out to college in Fargo. This was September of 2002. I checked into a room on the first floor to the right of the check in desk. I almost immediately started to feel sick once I was in the room. I got nausea and ran a fever. Finally I crawled up into the bed and the TV turned itself on. The lights went out and this dark smoke started to rise by the side of the bed. It had the faint outline of a person and it was speaking to me in this dark low and unnatural voice. The things it said were horrible and I blocked my ears and closed my eyes. Eventually it left and when it did my sickness immediately went away. I checked out at Four A.M. in the morning and have not been back since.
