This college and arts center dates back to 1964 and is believed to be haunted by a tall, ghostly shadow figure. Locals say it is the spirit of a man named Steve who fell and died during the building's construction. Steve has been blamed for shattering lights during performances, and some say they have run right into Steve, describing him as something invisible, but solid.

  • I Named Steve!

I was a theatre student from 1981 to 1985 – when I was a freshman, the upperclassmen called him the “Peanut Brittle man” – because up in the fly loft above the grid there was a old coffee cup hanging on a an exposed piece of rebar – legend was it belonged to worker that died in the construction of the building – and supposedly at some later date a piece of Peanut Brittle was found next to it. Well, I saw “the peanut brittle man” in about 1984. I was sleeping in the Green Room under the stage – with the lights off it is completely dark – well his presence woke me up and while I was in a completely black room I saw a solid image of a person – he appeared to be floating and to be lit from behind – even though I could see his face and his moustache. I have never forgotten him. And I could describe him til this day, in fact I gave him the name “Steve” – hard to explain why – but just knew that was his name. While in my initial experience with him was startling and caused me to run in fear – after that I never felt scared by him and often when walking in the hallway between the Green Room and the Dressing rooms a ceiling light – not all only a single one would flicker and I knew it was him. There were other ghosts in the building far more menacing than Steve.
