This Capitol building was completed in 1905 and replaced an older building that had burned down. Cold gusts of air have been reported here, along with unexplained noises that come from the second level and apparitions of deceased senators and governors have been seen in the stairways and halls. Room 217 may also have some eerie activity. Several people have reported being locked in. The room was the former judge's office.

Share Your ExperiencesPossible explanation for phenomena at the Capitol
The campus of the current Capitol was built over an old CEMETERY! Supposedly all the bodies were disinterred and relocated, but who knows? My understanding is that this burial ground contained the city's "potter'S field" for the unclaimed, unidentified, and indigent-- not the kind of folks who would be likely to have anyone diligently looking after their final resting places. After a half century of researching by 2 different generations, my family still hasn't been able to locate my immigrant great, great grand father's supposedly relocated remains-- he simply vanished from all written records!..
