MinnesotaHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Lucie Amundsen of Duluth Haunted Ship, to discuss what's new at Duluth Haunted Ship for the 2024 Halloween Season!

What's new at Duluth Haunted Ship for 2024? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

Where the line forms by the Haunted Ship has much more atmosphere than before -- we've added bon fires, bistro lights, special guests like a black smith, a bar and food trucks.
The VIP section has been improved also with a way to interact with people traveling through the haunt below them and a drink is included.
This year, those folks can take their photo by our new "Scaredy Cat" photo op, too.

What are you most excited about for the 2024 Halloween Season?

We are always excited to see our Haunt crew back! It takes 50 people to run the Haunted Ship every night!
All cast are graduates of "Scare School" training, which is helpful for their interactive roles. Actors transform with a professional make-up session – a process that can include everything from scars to horns.

What differentiates Duluth Haunted Ship from other local haunts in Minnesota?

We are the ONE & ONLY Haunted Ship in Minnesota!

Other Fun Facts:
Last year, just under 160 people could not make it through the haunted ship, begging to be escorted off
This year, those folks can take their photo by our new "Scaredy Cat" photo op
It takes 80 pints of (fake?) blood and 50 actors a night to create the production
In 2023, 9 people admitted to peeing themselves on the tour – yes, we keep a tally
The tour takes approximately 30-45 minutes to walk through
25,874 people toured the Haunted Ship in 2023

How long has Duluth Haunted Ship been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Duluth Haunted Ship's history?

This is our 29th season!! Our lead actor, Davan, is celebrating 20 years with the Duluth Haunted Ship.

What's your favorite experience since opening Duluth Haunted Ship?

We have had many paranormal experiences on the Duluth Haunted Ship, such as a little girl singing in the hold during closing and banging from an empty room.

How long is a typical haunt experience at Duluth Haunted Ship from start to finish?

30 minutes for general admission and 45 for VIP

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say Duluth Haunted Ship is? Why?

An 8 or 9 -- our actors do not touch guests

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance Duluth Haunted Ship?

Every year we go to national Haunt conferences and always end up adding some sort of tech to our experience -- from thunderstorms to shake grates!

Can Duluth Haunted Ship accommodate large groups? How many people can experience Duluth Haunted Ship together as a group?

Yes!
